First Sunday We bought a

First Sunday

We bought a Samsung blu-ray last year and it died almost a day after the 90 day warrently, so bitter, we went without one for almost a year. Then we decided to try this because of the instant viewing feature with Netflix. IT WORKED PERFECTLY THE FIRST TIME. I had a little difficulty figuring out where to find the Netflix menu, but that was it. Within minutes of setting it up we were watching a downloaded movie. For once, a product that is actually ready for prime time and doesn t feel like a beta version. This will change the way I view things. I don t have to plan in advance what I might want to watch in a few days, or make a trek to the video store to see the item is not in stock. The Blu-Ray player has exceeded my expectations with the ease at which you can watch netflix movies and other media from the internet. The few Blu-Ray movies I watched were amazing also. This is the first Blu-Ray unit I have so I did not rate the Load/Start up speed I have no comparsion. I wanted to upgrade to a Blu-Ray player, but was waiting to see about the additional media. Sony has made a nice unit, would recommend to a friend. I received the player two weeks before XMAS and my wife and I and love it. The Netflix part is very good, i like the user interface, very simple and straight forward. We have cable for an internet connection, so speed is not a problem. Blu-ray movies are soooo good. DVD movies that i have watched so far look great, much better than with my regular dvd player, so i guess the DVD upscaling really make a big difference. This is without a doubt the most user-friendly and easiest home electronic that I have ever had the pleasure of using and owning. I just got this last week and was expecting it to be very difficult. Lemme start out by telling you that I am not a technie and do not care about the cutting edge and latest A/V items. I got the Sony BPN-N460 for 3 main purposes: watch blu-ray movies, stream Internet video and watch/listen to other media formats. And this machine more than exceeds my expectations. I could not believe how easy it was to set up. I simply connected the HDMI and the ethernet wire and plugged it in and Sony walked me through the setup with its on-screen guide. It literally took 20 seconds. Be sure to check out the 6 pics of my Sony BDP-N460 and remote that I posted. Each pic is labeled; I hope they are of some help to you if you re considering buying this item. The video and sound clarity is second to none. I have never experienced a movie so crystal-clear and vibrant and vivid until I watched my first blu-ray. The Internet streaming is an added bonus that I really appreciate because Comcast s on-demand is getting worse and worse and there never seems to be anything on Home Box. The Sony BDP-N460 includes more than 20 Internet channels several of them are totally free. Besides Amazon and Netflix I suppose those are the most popular, it includes: You Tube-this is 100% free, Michael Jackson music videos-100% free, Style, Concierge, Blip TV and lots of other channels that I haven t even gotten to yet, such as Daily Podcasts. There is even a search engine built in to search the entire network for a specific channel. When the blu-ray discs are inserted simply press the right-hand silver button on the BDP it loads in milliseconds. This is not a DVD player. Speaking of DVD s this WILL play all of your older media discs. Besides DVDs, I specifically have already used my Sony BDP to play/listen to these formats: DVD-R, DVDR, CD and CD-R. And it plays all formats wonderfully. The unit is small, sleek-looking and compact.
